A beautifully preserved Victorian burr walnut glove box, crafted in England during the second half of the 19th century and retaining its exceptionally elegant original interior.

The exterior is veneered in richly figured burr walnut, framed by delicate ebony and satinwood stringing that accentuates the exceptional movement of the timber. At the center of the lid sits an ornate brass escutcheon surrounded by decorative inlay, while the original working lock and key complete the refined exterior.

Opening the box reveals its greatest surprise: an exquisite tufted crimson silk-lined lid, meticulously buttoned by hand, paired with a matching silk-lined interior. This luxurious upholstery was intended to protect fine kid leather gloves, lace accessories, or personal keepsakes while also showcasing the craftsmanship expected of high-quality Victorian dressing-room furnishings.
